BSides Ljubljana 0x7E1 ended, we hope everyone survived and got home safe and sound after after-party.

Next week we will slowly publishing video recordings and slides of talks. We are still waiting to get all the slide decks (hint hint – reminder for some of the speakers).

We received also first event reviews / feedbacks. If you are blogging / tweeting about it – let us know, we will be happy to share it forward and try to take into account your comments for next event. Final postmortem hasn’t been done yet, but first feedbacks were extremely positive (once again).

Poligon was packed again – from 180 tickets that were given out, around 170 participants eventually showed to BSidesLjubljana.  Great job!!

Once again we thank

@lowk3y

Don’t forget about SecTalks Ljubljana – demo day, on the 14th of March 0x7E1.

Final preparations in progress and here are updates from BSidesLjubljana organizers:

  • FREE tickets went out in two batches and were gone in an hour in both runs. We are officially SOLD OUT.  However, we do have a waiting list which is active and working well. With each ticket cancellation, there is a good chance you can get ticket if and only if you are on waiting list. If you are without a ticket and you prefer not to wait on the waiting list we still have supporter tickets available.
  • We have updated the list of talks as well publish first version of schedule for BSidesLjubljana 0x7E1
  • If you already have a ticket, but you know that you cannot make it to BSidesLjubljana; please please let us know (email: tickets[at]bsidesljubljana[dot]si,  twitter: @BSidesLjubljana) or cancel it yourself via Eventbrite.
  • If you have a ticket and you’re coming to BSidesLjubljana – have you considered joining Capture the flag hacking contest?
  • If you have a ticket and you’re coming to BSidesLjubljana – how about giving a <7min talk in lightning talks slot? Lightning talk registration is already open.
  • We are happy to announce that Comtrade joined as supporting sponsor! Thank you!
  • Traveling abroad is never easy or cheap, especially if you have to make last minute reservations. We’ve reserved a limited amount of tickets to make it easier for you. To get one, send us an email to “tickets [at] bsidesljubljana [dot] si” or get in touch with us via Twitter (@BSidesLjubljana) and let us know where you are from, and why you’d like to come.
  • When twitting about the event, make sure you add hashtag ” #BSidesLjubljana ” < Thank you <3

Things to note about the waiting list:

Once you have registered please note that Eventbrite doesn’t send a confirmation email, so don’t go click happy, once is enough and you don’t get multiple tickets the more times you click.

When a space becomes available you will get an email with a link, if you follow the link and it doesn’t work then it means you have missed the time window and you are put back on the waiting list. If you manage to get a ticket then please tweet about it, that way people still know the list is moving.

Once again keep in mind:

If you already have a ticket and you’re not going to come, please let us know, so we can give your ticket to someone else on waiting list! Thank you!

meanwhile preparation for BSidesLjubljana, we are already planning next big thing on Slovenian infosec scene -> 14th of March 0x7E1 (6pm/CET) – SecTalks Ljubljana Demo day, Poligon, Ljubljana.

SecTalks is a not for profit infosec community that was started in Perth, Western Australia and quickly growed to all other Ausralian cities, UK and recently China.

It runs by the local communities for the infosec enthusiasts. We have a mix of meetups for both beginners and people that are already in the field. SecTalks meetups have three formats, Talk & long CTF, Talk & short CTF, and a Ninja Night.

For more information, visit http://www.sectalks.org

This meetup is a demo session that we run for Slovenian infosec community. We are going to give you a taste of SecTalks meetups. We hope you are going to like it and would like to continue running it and grow your local community. The event is free to attend. Bring a laptop with Internet connection. There will be a short CTF challenge that we are going to team up and play. we team up experienced people with beginners so everyone can learn. There will be also a technical talk.

  • Bring your laptop.
  • Internet access may not be provided. You may want to bring your own wifi dongles or tether to your iPwns.
  • Have a hypervisor software, e.g. VMWare player, Virtual box. It is necessary for running some CTF challenges.
  • Based on the number of participates for the CTF, the group may be divided into teams. PREPARE TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS. We will try to team up beginners with gurus. Those that want to go solo are still welcome to do so.
  • This is a learning exercise for everyone. The idea is to think about problems, make friends and have fun. Don’t treat it like a competition.
  • The winner is the first team who solves the challenge. The winner will win the praise and admiration of fellow attendees. Gentle prods and hints will be offered during the session to move things along if people get stuck. The goal is to learn, not to beat your head against a wall for days on end.
  • Have fun. Learn. Mentor if you are able to. Participate, or just socialise. This is supposed to be a fun, learning event for the security and hacker community.
  • Know how to run OpenVPN client on your system. This may be required to access CTF server(s).

The event is organised by SecTalks Sydney organisers.
